CELPIP TEST FORMAT
Understing the CELPIP test format – CELPIP is divided into two versions like the CELPIP general test and the CELPIP general LS test. The CELPIP general test is divided into 4 sub-tests like listening, reading, writing and speaking, which measures the candidate’s English proficiency for the permanent residence and immigration purposes in Canada. While the CELPIP general LS test has 2 sub-tests like listening and speaking, which measures the candidate’s English proficiency for the Canadian citizenship. The time allotted to complete the CELPIP general test is about 3 hours. Whereas for the CELPIP general LS test is about 1 hour 10 minutes.
CELPIP TEST FORMAT- LISTENING
In the CELPIP listening sub-test, the candidate has to listen to the recordings related to the problem solving, daily life conversations, information, discussion, news, and some viewpoints. And then answer to the questions. The time allotted to complete the sub-test is about 47-55 minutes. In this sub-test, the candidate should answer all the questions and it’s not possible to edit the answers. The answers are saved once automatically and moved onto the next question. The candidate should take a careful review of the answers before and after attempting. The candidate can take notes while listening to the conversations or any recordings.
CELPIP TEST FORMAT- READING
In the CELPIP reading sub-test, the candidate should answer the questions related to particular information, reading to comprehension, diagrams, and viewpoints given from various books, newspapers, novels and many more. The time allotted to complete this test is 55-60 minutes. The candidate must read the text or comprehension before answering the questions. This test is to assess the candidate’s English reading ability. The examiner evaluates the scores based on vocabulary, understanding of information, knowledge on the subject, opinions and fluency.
CELPIP TEST FORMAT -WRITING
In the CELPIP writing sub-test, the candidate will be asked to write an email and answers to the given survey questions. The structure of the content should be clear and easy to read for evaluation. The certified examiners evaluate the scores based on fluency, content, grammar, spelling, introductions, and endings. The candidate should prepare the content in a given word count. The time allotted to complete the test is 53-60 minutes.
CELPIP TEST FORMAT -SPEAKING
In the CELPIP speaking sub-test, the candidate will be asked to give an advice regarding an argument or problem, speak about personal experience, describe a scene, make predictions, describe the unusual situation, deal with a difficult situation and express opinions. The time allotted to complete the test is about 15-20 minutes. This test is face to face with the examiner. The answers will be recorded and evaluated based on the accent, fluency, vocabulary, repetition of sentences, grammar and pronunciation.
