IELTS vs PTE vs TOEFL
IELTS means the International English Language Testing System.
PTE Academic is a Pearson Test of English.
TOEFL is Test of English as a Foreign Language.
These are the three standardized tests, which measures the candidate’s English proficiency of non-native English speakers, who want to study, work abroad, or for immigration purposes or for global migration.
IELTS and PTE exam pattern is divided into two versions like academic and general. The exam format of the IELTS is a paper-based and computer delivered ielts test.
TOEFL is a paper-based test (PBT) and internet-based test (IBT). Whereas PTE Academic is completely a computerized test.
All the three tests have 4 sections or 4 sub-tests like listening, writing, reading, and speaking. The duration of IELTS is about 2 hours 45 minutes, PTE is about 3 hours, and IELTS is about 3 hours 10 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes. Most of the colleges, universities, and organizations around the world accept the scores of IELTS, PTE and TOEFL to assess the candidate’s communication skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking.
These scores are widely accepted by American MBA programs conducting these days. The scores or results will be reported by the professional, certified and trained examiners will be accurate. The score range of IELTS is 0-9, PTE is 10-90, and TOEFL is 0-120.
IELTS vs PTE vs TOEFL:
The TOEFL test will be conducted in more than 50 times per year in 4,500 test centers across 165 countries. TOEFL scores are accepted in more than 8,500 colleges over 130 countries. Whereas the IELTS test is conducted at more than 900 test centers across 130 countries and the scores are accepted by over 8000 organizations globally, as a proof of English communication skills of the candidate. While the PTE is conducted only in 250 test centers over 50 countries. The number of organizations accepts the PTE scores will be lower than the TOEFL and IELTS.
Mostly PTE Academic scores are accepted by the universities and organizations in the US and the UK. Candidates can register to any of the three tests via online or phone or by email.
IELTS vs PTE vs TOEFL:
All the three tests have similar sub-tests like listening, reading, writing and speaking with a difference in the question types. The IELTS speaking test is completely a face-to-face conversation with the certified examiner and the answers of the candidates are recorded on a digital recorder for evaluation. While the speaking test of TOEFL and PTE is evaluated by human rater and computer. For evaluation of answers TOEFL and PTE speaking tests, candidates will speak into a microphone and the computer captures and records the audio. The type of accent in the IELTS academic is mostly British accent, in TOEFL is mostly North American accent while in the PTE variety of accents will be noticed.
