In IELTS Reading Short Answer Questions for both General and Academic Module, Such questions are often referred to as questions of  ‘comprehension’ and are very common throughout the world in English classrooms. Many students have answered questions of this kind before, and most students tend to do quite well with them for that reason.

Tips

  • In the same order as the message, the answers appear.
  • Before you start reading the text, look at and understand the questions first. What is the real question?
  • You’ll probably get a word limit, such as ‘ NO MORE THREE WORDS AND / OR A NUMBER. ‘ Make sure you don’t go beyond that limit.
  • The answers need not be grammatically correct, only short answers, as mentioned above.
  • Just the answer in the text, don’t give your opinion.
  • Keywords are usually nouns or noun phrases in the query.
  • Also speak about synonyms and paraphrases when you search your keywords.
